WiFi Settings and other Router related details

Recommended Configuration for your WiFi Router

We recommend that you change the following settings on your WiFi router for a smooth experience while using the Teewe device

  • Network security should be configured to WPA2/PSK. You can also try to set security as WPA in case WPA2 is not available. WEP is not a recommended security configuration though it is supported.
  • AP isolation should be disabled. This will allow device to device communication over your WiFi network which is essential for the Teewe app and the Teewe dongle to communicate.
  • Multicast should be enabled (and set to IGMP V3 if available). If you do not find Multicast or something similar, try to set IGMP proxy to “Enabled” if available.
  • WiFi enhanced mode should be enabled. This setting is specific to D-Link Routers.
  • Wireless Modes should be configured to "Mixed 802.11n, 802.11b and 802.11g".
  • UPnP should be enabled. UPnP provides compatibility with networking equipment, software and peripherals.
  • WMM should be enabled (if available).
  • Mac Filtering should be disabled.

Some of these settings may not be available on your router or may be named differently as different brands use different conventions. Also, please search through all the sections on your router settings for these features as different routers may place these under different headers. Please try to set the ones that you can find to the recommended settings.

Once you have made the necessary changes and saved them on the router, please reboot your router. Make sure that the router is broadcasting the WiFi signal after you have rebooted it. Now, reboot the Teewe device and try to set it up on your WiFi network.

How do I change my WiFi router settings?

Follow the steps below to change settings on your WiFi router:

Step 1: Connect your laptop or desktop computer to your Home Wi-Fi Internet Connection.

Step 2: Open a browser page and visit 192.168.1.1 (This is your default gateway address and might be different depending on your network configuration. Search for "How to find router ip + name of your O.S.” on the internet and you should be able to figure how to find this IP Address.)

Step 3: Enter the username and password on your router (If you have never changed your router password, it will mostly be left on the default setting and you can find the credentials with a bit of searching on the internet with the exact model number of your router).

Step 4: Navigate through your router settings to find and change the settings that required to be changed/updated as mentioned in the previous section of this webpage.

How do I know if my WiFi router is supported by Teewe?

Teewe needs a WiFi network setup by a WiFi router for smooth operation. The router needs to be Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n compatible. Plug and play WiFi dongles and WiFi hotspots created by Android smart-devices are not recommended, though they are supported.

We have tested Teewe with a number of WiFi routers manufactured by major companies such as D-Link, Netgear, Cisco, Beetel and Binatone and have found it to work with most of them which are currently available in the market. However, there is an off chance that your WiFi router may not be compatible with Teewe. Below are some routers that are incompatible and not recommended for use with the Teewe device:

  • TP-LINK TL-WR740N 150Mbps Wireless N Router
  • TP-LINK TL-WR720N 150 Mbps Wireless N Router
  • D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router
  • Beetel 450TC1

However, if you face any issues while setting up or using your Teewe device after configuring your router to the recommended settings mentioned in the sections above, please reach out to us.
